A WIN-WIN-WIN-WIN for Pearl Street Memory Care unit

Purpose of this page

I am a person who believes in raising the consciousness of the people on this planet. You can see that on my site, allone.org. After visits spanning 2 years at Pearl Street memory care, where I, like several others, found it depressing at times. I would bring flowers during the winter to try to help, and maybe "drop a hint" to mgmt.

I am proposing a WIN-WIN-WIN-WIN solution to help with this. Help the patients, help the planet, and help Pearl Street be happier (patients and staff) and LCB more profitable!

As a resident of Reading, I feel compelled to speak out on behalf of the residents, and would love to see positive reviews on google, yelp, and social media on how Pearl Street turned their memory care into a model for the future... "A home away from home".

We have turned our memory unit into a home!

What can be done?

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I stand before you today with a vision, a vision to transform your memory care unit into a sanctuary that not only cares for our residents but also uplifts their spirits.

**Nature as a Healer**

The healing power of nature is undeniable. The rustling of leaves, the chirping of birds, the vibrant colors of flowers, all these elements of nature have a profound impact on our well-being. By incorporating nature into your memory care unit, you can create an environment that is not only therapeutic but also comforting.

**The Magic of Flora**

Plants have a calming effect on people. They purify the air, add color to the surroundings, and can significantly improve mental health. By introducing plants into our residents' living spaces, we can create a more homely and serene environment.

Suggestion: Over the past 2 years in winter, I would bring flowers. Orchids seem to last longer. Almost all tables (in living and dining areas) should have flowers!

**The Joy of Fauna**

Animals have a unique way of connecting with humans. Their innocence and unconditional love can bring immense joy and comfort. By allowing our residents to interact with animals, we can help alleviate feelings of loneliness and isolation.

Suggestion: Why not be the first to have a "House dog" or "Family dog"? Visitors will talk about it, how warm and loving can you get!

**The Serenity of Aquariums**

Aquariums are known for their soothing effects. The gentle movement of water and fish can have a calming effect on the mind. By incorporating aquariums into our memory care unit, we can provide a tranquil environment that can help reduce stress and anxiety.

Suggestion: In front of the TV a HUGE aquarium could replace the existing (not used as far as I can tell) cabinet. Make it SO big that when people come to visit the unit, they will talk about it to their friends!!!!

**Conclusion**

In conclusion, by integrating elements of nature, plants, animals, and aquariums into our memory care unit, we can create a more homey and uplifting environment for our residents. This is not just about improving the physical space, but about enhancing the quality of life for our residents, making them feel loved, cared for, and most importantly, at home. Thank you.

My thoughts: You have the opportunity to shine with this idea, and save money!

Benefits of Adding Nature and Plants to a Memory Care Unit - Cost Savings!

2. **Reduced Stress and Anxiety**: The tranquility of nature is a powerful antidote to the stress and anxiety that often accompany aging and memory-related disorders4.

3. **Enhanced Physical Health**: Regular exposure to nature can lead to improved physical health for residents in memory care units. Activities such as gardening or nature walks can enhance mobility and coordination4.
